It is natural in that it has been mined from the earth, but it has been enhanced to achieve its vibrant hue. In the late '90s and early 2000s, a small company in California developed a method to treat Topaz to resemble London Blue Topaz without the costly processes of radiation. They baked a chemical into the stone at extremely high heat and pressure. Initially, the results were frequently too green; however, one clever individual noticed that the final product looked remarkably similar to Paraiba Tourmaline, leading to the creation of a market for what we now lovingly refer to as Paraiba Topaz. We use the term "Paraiba" as a unique color descriptor—because no other term better captures the essence of this beautiful stone! This ring features a truly cool color—there's nothing really like it!
