Introducing this elegant 14K Gold Pendant featuring a stunning Paraiba Topaz. In 1989, a new color of tourmaline was discovered in Paraiba, Brazil—a breathtaking neon blend of blue, green, and teal. This rare gem was sold for as much as $15,000 per carat, and it was incredibly rare, gorgeous, and intense. Now, it’s pretty much gone, with only small pockets still being mined in Paraiba, Nigeria, and Madagascar—though these are heavily occluded and very expensive. So what is Paraiba Topaz? To be clear, this topaz is a look-alike of the famous Paraiba tourmaline. It’s a natural stone—mined from the ground—but it has been enhanced. Back in the late '90s and early 2000s, a small California company created a treatment process that baked a chemical into the surface of the stone to mimic London Blue Topaz, but it often turned very green. Someone clever realized it looked a lot like Paraiba tourmaline, and the market quickly grew for what they called “Too green for London Blue.” The color is truly stunning—nothing else quite like it. This stone measures approximately 14x10mm and weighs roughly 6 carats, making it a lovely, substantial centerpiece. It’s clean, clear, and has tons of bright, sparkly fire that gives me goosebumps just to look at it. The pendant is accented with a clear, sparkling CZ, set in a solid oval basket that allows the stone to do its thing.
